Additional Courses, Activities, Tuition, Exams & Options for Families
We offer a range of other services that are not included in our Summer School’s classic Residential English Language Course package.
These additional activities are only available as additional services for students (or their parents or brothers/sisters) who enrol on our main Residential English Language Course and there will be additional costs for each of these.

Private English Tuition – an extra intensive Course for individuals
Students have the option to study 1-to-1 in the afternoons or evenings instead of taking part in a scheduled activity session. The 1-to-1 sessions allow our students to work directly with one of our teachers and to focus on specific areas of their English learning such as: English grammar or English conversation or exam preparation.
These additional sessions can be booked in blocks of 3 hours, 6 hours or 9 hours during the enrolment process or after arriving at Hurst.
Extra English Courses – for groups only
As part of this package our students have the option to study in the afternoons instead of attending their usual activity sessions. This additional study is not provided one to one. The additional study is provided in groups of 5-15 students and these sessions can only be booked as a group until 1 month before arriving. The Extra English Courses can be booked in blocks of 3 hours, 6 hours or 9 hours per week.
Family Course – English Tuition for Parents and Younger/Older Brothers and Sisters, or Adult students who have previously studied at MC while they were a Child.
Our family tuition course is a great solution for those family members who cannot stay on campus, but who wish to learn English.
You will receive 15 hours 1-to-1 English tuition, and also join the same excursions as the young students living on campus. Excursions include: London, Cambridge, Canterbury, Brighton, Arundel Castle or Lewes. Lunch and Dinner are included in the package and you may also be able to use the sports and recreational facilities as and when they are available. This service is also available to students aged 18 and over who were previously a child student at MC.
English Exams
Trinity Graded Examination in Spoken English Preparation Course – for groups only.
We are a Registered Trinity Centre and offer the opportunity to study an additional 9 extra hours in preparation for the Trinity Graded Examination in Spoken English (GESE).
The Trinity’s GESE exam tests the English speaking and listening skills of people whose first language is not English. They focus on building motivation and confidence in using English and enable students to chart their progress from beginner to proficiency. The Graded Examination in Spoken English (GESE) is accredited by Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. After completing your additional study you can take the exam at Hurst.
This service can only be booked as a group until 1 month before arriving.
Professional Football Training Course
We can arrange Professional football coaching, but a minimum of 10 students is required to run this course.
The course provides a total of 9 hours professional coaching and takes place during 1 week of afternoon activity sessions.
Note: Only available in August. Only available if a minimum of 10 students reserve.
Horse Riding Lessons – for groups or individuals
Horse Riding Lessons (off campus, with return transfer included) – single sessions in the afternoons or book 5 hours per week.
Tennis Lessons
If you have ambitions to be the next Roger Federer or Andy Murray then now you have the perfect opportunity to learn to play tennis from a professional tennis coach!
Lessons can be taken during the afternoon. Perfect your lob and swing and who knows you may be a Wimbledon champion one day! Not available in week 5.
